I have discussed the importance of the golden eagle entrepreneurs before. American fiscal cliff, European debt crisis and above all, high unemployment rate in the whole world are the main concerns of the top decision makers now. Many economists and experts have been discussed and consulted and they all agreed on one point which is the essence of entrepreneurial activities that can contribute to the economic growth. This is quite evident that the golden eagle entrepreneurs are solution to the current problems and that they are the main contributors of a more sustainable economy.
I have discussed in the previous post about the definition of the golden eagle entrepreneurs and why I call these entrepreneurs golden eagle entrepreneurs. They have a tendency to take bigger risks, they are innovative, and they do instinctively possess high leadership skills. While some entrepreneurs just start and stick to the organic company they have created, the golden eagle entrepreneurs never stop their entrepreneurial activities. Some of these golden eagle entrepreneurs turn into habitual entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs while some others have to stick to their own small playground. This is where one major problem arises.
Almost all countries have state supports for entrepreneurial activities in order to facilitate job creation and their economic growth. There are incubators, state grants, special loans, and dozens of other supports are given out each year to facilitate the entrepreneurial activities. However, there is still high deficit in job creation activities. These problems account for two major issues that have been neglected so far:
1. The Wounded Golden Eagles
This problem started due to the lack of attention to the golden eagle entrepreneurs. There are wounded wings or exploited playground that leads the golden eagle entrepreneurs to just consume or just hunt for their own needs. They are potentially golden eagle, but they do not have facilities to create more than one firm and just stick to it. They have so much to do with their own daily schedules, doing many things alone and struggling with their own small firm survival that they cannot contribute to the job creation. Sometimes they are not able to even hire one employees. They have to deal with the dark side of being a golden eagle. Unlike the other entrepreneurs, the golden eagle entrepreneurs fly higher and thus their downfall is tougher and after they get wounded no one wants to use their experience either.
The potential golden eagle entrepreneurs who have been overwhelmed with their daily schedules and failed to hunt properly due to some problems take less attention and sometimes they just do the survival phase of entrepreneurship. This is one major problem that the world is facing by lacking the golden eagle entrepreneurs.
2. The Lack of the True Golden Eagles
I have discussed before about the importance of the entrepreneur’s character and that the golden eagle entrepreneurs are those that are instinctively innovative, leader and risk takers. However, there a gap in the presence of enough entrepreneurs in the world. Some believe that the instability of the economy leads to the lack of having enough entrepreneurs. This might be true, but the main reason from my viewpoint is the lack of a systematic use of the golden eagle entrepreneurs. They are doing something elsewhere they are not made to do. In fact the golden eagle entrepreneurs can be on top in many different area, but putting a golden eagle in a cage and giving it a daily food is not what the economy needs. Therefore, I am introducing a long-term solution that I believe is essential for the future.
The Golden Eagle Farm
The golden eagle farming starts by breeding the golden eagle in a farm. The process is intended to give us some golden eagle entrepreneurs that can lead the economy in the future. The golden eagle farm has the following process:
- Find the golden eagle eggs
- The Juveniles’ hunting practices
- Put them in the play ground
Before starting the discussion of the golden eagle farming, I should clarify the difference of the golden eagle farm with the business incubator. The unfortunate truth of the current business incubators is that they mostly use the golden eagles and sometimes other entrepreneurs and try to support them. Furthermore, the golden eagle entrepreneur who has been in the golden eagle farm has only one job to do: Continual Entrepreneurship and Startup!
Step One: Finding the Golden Eagle Egg
I have mentioned about the entrepreneur’s character before. No one can ignore the importance of the entrepreneur’s character and their risk-taking ability, innovative thinking, and their leadership skills. Solving problems and making acceptable decisions in short time and dealing with tough conditions are the characters distinct the golden eagle entrepreneurs from the others. Many of these characters can be found in the early age, if there will be a systematic approach on finding and incubating the golden eagle entrepreneurs.
This process starts at school when the golden eagles are with many others. This is where the filtering process occurs and the potential golden eagles get separated from the others. Students at the university can be given tasks and be examined via psychologists in order to find some hidden characters. As this process starts at early age, the character of the children should be found by indirect testing or building fun games for them in order to understand which ones are the potential golden eagles of the future and just make the filtering. The chosen children then go to the next stage.
Step Two: Incubation
At this step the selected persons will be incubated and their entrepreneurial character will be improved by special programs and practices that are designed based on their age. This incubation is important and at this moment the children can make fun games that can improve their leadership and entrepreneurial skills. The incubation is one important and the missing program in the schools of our time.
Step Three: The Juveniles’ Hunting Practices
The Juveniles are now about to start to learn and practice the real hunting and fly over the playground. The target group at this stage are in the last days of their high school studies. They start to open small companies and do the business in smaller size in the industry of their competence or interest.
The selected group have less support at this stage, but they still have a good backup to show them the way. The essence of the mature golden eagle is high at this stage. They have to lead and guide the juveniles and led them to a successfully hunting ground and teach them the tips and tricks of hunting.
In fact the presence of successful entrepreneurs and using them as the main guide and leader to teach the new entrepreneur has been neglected for many years. The golden eagle entrepreneur seldom have the chance to share their own experience and knowledge.
Step Four: Put them in the Play Ground
After the juvenile golden eagles finished their training and gaining their early experiences by making mistakes, they become professional hunters. Here is when the product of the golden eagle farm is out to the market. The golden eagle entrepreneur has one particular job: ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Many people think that the entrepreneur should stay CEO and push the company more. But in a golden eagle farm model, the entrepreneur stays as the consultant of the company and goes to his/her next job as soon as the company is ready to grow and stay independent. There are enough managers, there are enough engineers, and there are enough accountants for companies; but there are not enough entrepreneurs with creative ideas that can lead the companies to a sustainable job creating machines. The golden eagle entrepreneurs are the fuel for these job creating machines.
